It's Friday! Guess what I forgot to do? Yep, you guessed it - forgot to turn the TV on Wednesday night for the replay of Downton Abbey. Lame! Loser! Can NOT remember when shows are on! I need my British accent // rich lady mansion tea party // dinner party dresses // English etiquette cup filled!! And I'm really failing. Why don't I throw a party for Buffalo housewives with a big bowl of booze to solve my problems!? Just kidding - bowls of booze don't solve your problems. But they should! Just kidding again (that is, if Travis' Mom or my Dad is reading this). I know one thing bowls of booze do - cause giggles. Lots of um.
See, even if this bowl of booze is giggle-inducing it is yet the most conscientious bowl of booze in the history of bowls of booze. Why? Because this bowl of booze is full of fibrous fruit. See, as you savor the slightly sweet orange and citrus flavored wine/punch drink you get to chomp on the liqueur infused blueberries, peaches, mangos, strawberries, what have you - making this drink feel very high-principled, honorable, noble, moralistic, if you will. Have I dazzled you with enough thesaurus.com synonyms for "ethical?" Whatever you call this bowl - call it fun for your next party occasion! Even though a gigantic bowl of booze filled with fruit is slightly reminiscent of college wopatui inside a 48 quart Coleman, I think this bowl of booze pulled off quite elegantly at my Ladies Aid Evening. We sat around sipping daintily while having a "Sisterhood Circle" in which we shared a little about our daily struggles, life in general and what it means to be a woman today. And definitely giggled - a lot. Isn't laughter a blessing? Even if induced by boozey fruit.
Tell me… When was the last time you really laughed?Printable Recipe Here
White Sangria
3 bottles cheap, dry white wine
1 1/2 cups peach Schnapps
6 tablespoons orange flavored liqueur (like Triple Sec or Cointreau)
2 tablespoons cane sugar
1 navel orange, 1 lemon & 1 lime, sliced thinly
6 - 8 cups of assorted fresh or frozen chopped fruit (make sure to use a rainbow of colors)
30 ounces club soda
Pour the wine, Scnapps, and liqueur into a large serving bowl and stir. Add sugar and give another stir. Toss in citrus and fruit give everything one last gentle stir. Refrigerate for 6-12 hours allowing the fruit to soak up the alcohol and turn all boozy. When ready to serve, pour in the club soda. Serve with spoons to eat the fruit. Get ready to giggle.
The. Best. For winter. Blues.
ReplyDeleteYou mean the fruit? Or the booze. I hope you mean booze.
